Mogens Vantore (Danish, 1895-1977) Vantore began formal training at age 14 and enjoyed academic as well as commercial success throughout his life. He was largely inspired by the Post-Impressionist and Fauvist painters. The artist used strong brushwork and saturated colors to portray his feelings and to capture the personal experience of his surroundings. His large body of work is made up primarily of landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. Vantore spent time in Copenhagen, Paris, Spain, and on the Danish islands of Lolland and Møn. His work can be found in the permanent collections of Danish institutions including Museum of Copenhagen, the Fuglsang Art Museum, and the Skovgaard Museum.
