Schiöler is considered one of Sweden's best landscape painters and was a member of the Gothenburg Colorists. The National Gallery of Denmark houses 10 of his artworks.
This painting is an example of Schiöler's many Scandinavian island landscapes, one of his favorite subjects. It is composed of rich colors and bold brush strokes, for which the artist was known.
